Grayslake home uninhabitable after fire

Grayslake firefighters reported that the fire occurred at approximately 3 10 a.m.

Firefighters responded to the home in the 200 block of Harvey Avenue and were able to contain the fire in about an hour, with assistance of crews from Round Lake and Libertyville.

The occupants of the home, a man and a woman, reported they were asleep when their smoke detectors were activated by smoke in the building.

Grayslake firefighters were alerted by the alarm company.

The cause of the fire, which officials said began outside the home, is under investigation.

The extent of the damage has yet to be determined.

Neither of the occupants were injured, although the building is uninhabitable and has been boarded up.
