Your editorial on transgender student is insane
Last Friday the Daily Herald editorial board made an astonishing statement regarding the gender dysphoric teenage boy at the center of the District 211 controversy over locker-room access.
They wrote, "This is a girl, no matter her anatomy."
This is a statement of IDEOLOGY disguising itself as FACT.
The unstated ideological assumption behind this statement is this: Feelings determine reality. (ie. He FEELS that he is a girl, therefore he IS a girl.) I hope the absurdity of this assumption is still obvious -- because if I have to explain it I'm afraid it's already too late.
Almost more troubling, the editors went on to write, "her gender identity is not one that should be debated" and "every board member should have backed this conclusion rather than fighting any access."
Wow. ... That is like someone insisting that two plus two equals five and then demanding that everyone else do the same.
The editors apparently expected school board members to lie (a boy is a girl) -- if not with their mouths then at least with their votes. Why? Because the Daily Herald editors feel that this is morally right. Therefore it is morally right -- as if right and wrong are actually determined by our feelings.
This is all happening because decades ago, under the axiom "separation of church and state" we foolishly eliminated God's morality as a point of consideration in public policy debates.
Without an understanding of morality from God as an independent outside source we are left with rules based on nothing more than the feelings and personal opinions of the people in power. Chaos ensues. Viola! A boy is now a girl -- and in the girls locker room.
We refused to be ruled by God, we will now be ruled by men.
If this editorial is any indication, God gave us far more freedom and sanity than men ever will.
