Prospect Heights police give back during holiday season

The Prospect Heights Police Department has been distributing holiday cheer this month in the form of money, gift cards, clothes and toys and families in need in the city.

The police department has distributed $1,000 donated by the city and another $500 from the Prospect Heights Police Association in local business gift cards to people in need during routine police activity, according to a news release.

Also, working the with the fire department, the city, the park district, the Lions Club and the garden club, the police have been distributing clothes and gifts to local families "to ensure no family goes without gifts during the holiday season and more importantly, all of our families stay warm and safe from inclement weather."

This season, the Prospect Heights police station also collected more than 200 toys for the annual Chicago Toys for Tots drive, according to the release.
