Services set for Judy Allison, wife of NASCAR driver

BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) - The wife of retired NASCAR driver Bobby Allison is being remembered in a burial mass.

The service for 74-year-old Judy Allison was set for Monday at a Roman Catholic church in Bessemer near Birmingham.

An announcement by the family says Judy Allison died Friday after surgery at a hospital in Statesville, North Carolina. The cause of death wasn't included.

Judy and Bobby Allison moved to North Carolina from metro Birmingham following Allison's retirement from racing. Bobby Allison was a leading member of the so-called "Alabama Gang" from the 1960s through the '80s.

Judy Allison was also the mother of NASCAR racer Davey Allison, who died in a helicopter crash at the Talladega Superspeedway in 1993, and driver Clifford Allison, who died in a race in Michigan in 1992.
