The Daily Herald selected five regional editors' choice winners in our annual Holiday Lights contest.

In DuPage County, our pick was Dennis Duszynski and his family, who decorate their house at 312 Spruce Ave. in Bensenville.

The overall contest winner, chosen by online voting, is Dante Fiandaca of Algonquin.

Q. How long have you been decorating your house like this?

A. As long as we have lived here, for the past 13 years.

Q. What inspired you to go all out with your decorations?

A. Our oldest daughter was sick when she was little and we always did it to make her happy. When our younger daughter came along, she was just in love with the lights. The kids love them.

Q. How many hours does it take to put up the display?

A. Two or three weekends, for about 8 to 12 hours a day. It's all put up by hand and it takes about 48 hours.

Q. How much does your electric bill spike in December?

A. It goes up about $200 to $300, because most of it is LED lights. All the lights are energy savers.

Q. What do your neighbors think of your display?

A. The neighbors love it. We get random thank you cards in the mail. It's very nice. Some don't leave their names or anything, they just put cards in the mailbox. It's pretty cool.
