Dade paces Antioch's win at Marengo
At Marengo's boys basketball tournament, Brandon Dade scored a game-high 17 points, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers, as Antioch evened its record in the 66th annual E.C. Nichols Holiday Classic at 1-1 with a 59-30 victory over Westminster Christian on Monday.
Danny Brito added 10 points for Antioch (4-7), which received 8 points apiece from Theo Hill, Trevor Koch and Nathan Borries. The Sequoits trailed 25-21 at halftime but outscored Westminster Christian 18-10 in the third quarter and 20-15 in the fourth.
Antioch plays Richmond-Burton at noon Tuesday.
Niles North 73, Vernon Hills 38: At Wheeling, the Cougars fell behind 21-11 after one quarter and trailed 44-17 at halftime.
Jake Helfand led Vernon Hills (6-5) with 9 points, including a 3-pointer.
Niles North's Damaria Franklin scored a game-best 16 points, and the Vikings came up with 16 steals.
The Cougars play Prospect at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Zion-Benton 84, Grant 74: Junior forward Andy Kaye had 23 points and junior forward John Kerr had 22 points, but it still wasn't enough against a high-scoring Zee-Bees outfit.
Grant (4-5) had its three-game winning streak snapped.
Zion-Benton took 32 trips to the foul line and outscored the Bulldogs 28-16 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Kerr finished 6-for-6 at the foul line for Grant, and senior forward James Mobley (9 points) made a 3-pointer.
The Bulldogs slipped to 1-1 in pool play, while Zion-Benton improved to 2-0.
