Registered sex offender charged with child porn possession

A registered sex offender is accused of possessing child pornography, officials said Friday.

John Rambert, 64, of North Chicago was charged with three counts of possessing child pornography and faces four to 15 years in prison, according to a news release from Lake County State's Attorney Mike Nerheim.

Investigators from the state's attorney's office and the North Chicago Police Department conducted a search of Rambert's home on Waukegan Road, the release said, where they found evidence of child pornography.

Rambert previously was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a child in 2000, the release said.

He is scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
