Gurnee police boost enforcement

Gurnee police have started a special holiday traffic enforcement campaign that'll run through Jan. 3. The villagewide effort will be funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Officials said a planned additional 32 hours of enforcement will be focused to removing drunk and drugged drivers from the roadways, increasing safety belt compliance, child safety seat use and deterring speeding motorists.
