Another big night for Westminster's Versluys

Westminster Christian senior Maddie Versluys is on a roll. After scoring 32 points in a win over Alden-Hebron on Thursday, Versluys came back with 34 more on Friday as the Warriors' girls basketball team defeated Kirkland Hiawatha 61-40 in a Northeastern Athletic Conference game in Elgin.

Versluys, who now has 1,602 career points, added 9 steals and 7 rebounds to the win while Emily Lamp had 13 points and 5 rebounds, Elisse VanNoord added 6 points and 10 rebounds and Hannah Haecker pulled down 9 rebounds for Westminster (5-6, 3-2).

St. Charles East 53, Streamwood 14: Hannah Vitkus scored 11 points, Sara Rosenfeldt had 8 and Kelly Rinker added 7 to lead the Saints (4-7, 3-1) in the Upstate Eight River. Jenejha Williams had 12 points for Streamwood (0-11, 0-4).

West Aurora 48, Glenbard East 44 (OT): Ashley Williams had 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Blackhawks to an Upstate Eight Valley win. Jemya McClendon added 9 points for West Aurora (6-3, 2-0).

Lakes 43, CL South 41: Chanel Fanter scored 23 points and had 8 rebounds and Annika Sevcik added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Crystal Lake South (7-4) in the first round of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

St. Charles North 71, Elgin 21: Claire Jakaitis and Elizabeth Olsem had 14 points each and freshman Anna Tate scored 11 to lead the North Stars (6-2, 2-1) in the UEC River. Alisha Panthier had 6 points and Lakiya Harvey 5 for Elgin (1-9, 0-4).
