Geneva man accused of sex abuse, growing pot
A 35-year-old Geneva man has been charged with sexually abusing a woman he knew, growing marijuana and planning to sell it.
Jose M. Delatorre, of the 300 block of North First Street, is free on bond after his Saturday arrest. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted of the most severe charges,
According to a Geneva police report, a woman called authorities to Delatorre's home and showed them a Mason jar containing marijuana packaged in multiple plastic bags.
Officers also saw a digital scale and rubber gloves in the apartment, the report said.
The woman showed officers a canvas-type structure in the basement, complete with plants, grow lights and water filtration and ventilation equipment, the report said.
A woman who described herself as being in dating relationship with Delatorre also told police he was waiting for her when she got off work at 11:30 p.m. Friday, grabbed her arm forcefully enough to cause bruising, and pulled her to his car, according to the report.

Delatorre is charged with manufacture/delivery of 30 grams to 500 grams of marijuana, production of five marijuana plants or less, misdemeanor domestic battery and felony criminal sexual abuse, according to Kane County court records.
Delatorre is next due in court on Jan. 7
