Waddell & Reed Christmas event benefits children in need
OAK BROOK, Ill. - The Waddell & Reed client Christmas party collected gifts for Toys for Tots to benefit needy children in the local community. The goal was to deliver, through new toys at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters. This is the fourth year that Waddell & Reed's Oak Brook division office has donated to this cause.
Eric Van Ness, CFP, a financial adviser at Waddell & Reed, organized this year's event and indicates, "We collected 268 toys for local children, who otherwise might be forgotten at Christmas."
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, which donates toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major William L. Hendricks. The Marine Corps Reserve proudly celebrates its 67th year of collecting toys, and they depend on loyal contributors like Waddell & Reed to make the program an ongoing success.
Founded in 1937, Waddell & Reed has today grown to more than 150 registered offices nationwide. The company offers a wide array of investment products and services, as well as a variety of insurance products through arrangements with outside insurance companies.
