A-League: Perth beats Melbourne Victory 1-0 on late goal
PERTH, Australia (AP) - The Perth Glory handed the defending A-League champion Melbourne Victory their third consecutive defeat on Wednesday.
Substitute Diego Castro's goal midway through the second half was the only score in Perth's second win in a row.
Jamal Reiners, a 17-year-old striker making his first start for the Glory, charged down the left wing and into the box before passing across to Castro for an easy tap-in.
The result left the Victory in fourth place, six points behind first-place Western Sydney, while Perth moved into eighth place.
Among 11th-round matches this weekend, Western Sydney, four points ahead of Brisbane, travels to Perth to play the Glory on Saturday.
The Victory are in action again on Saturday against third-place City in a Melbourne derby.
