Pitcher Trevor Cahill agrees to 1-year deal with Cubs

After a solid showing in the postseason and promise to compete for a starting job, right-handed pitcher Trevor Cahill has agreed to a one-year contract with the Cubs, team officials announced Monday.

The 27-year-old had 11 relief appearance with the Cubs last season, but he won 18 games with Oakland in 2010.

2015 postseason: Went 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA (2 ER/5.1 IP), fanning 8 in 5.1 innings over six games.

Best year: 18-8 in 2010 with a 2.97 ERA (65 ER/196.2 IP) in 30 starts.

Career: 65-72 with 1 save and a 4.13 ERA (497 ER/1,083.2 IP) in 212 major league outings (39 in relief) with Oakland (2009-11), Arizona (2012-14), Atlanta (2015) and the Cubs.
