Hanover Park accepting canned foods in lieu of parking fines

In an effort to help stock the Hanover Township Food Pantry, the Hanover Park police department will accept canned foods in lieu of payment for parking tickets issued from Dec. 17-31.

Any motorist who is issued a $50 parking citation during that time can bring 10 canned food items to the front desk of the police station instead of paying the fine.

Canned food must be donated within 10 days of the ticket's issuance, and items can be dropped off 24 hours a day.

All canned items will go directly to the Hanover Township Food Pantry.
