Cause not found for deadly southern Indiana house fire
HATFIELD, Ind. (AP) - Investigators say they've been unable to determine what caused a house fire in rural southern Indiana that killed a man.
The state fire marshal's office says investigators don't suspect foul play in the Oct. 30 fire in the Spencer County community of Hatfield that killed 40-year-old David Leslie.
Officials say investigators couldn't find an ignition source because of the extent of the fire damage, which included the roof collapsing.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports (http://bit.ly/1lIw5fa ) the house didn't have electricity or natural gas service at the time of the early morning fire, but a generator with two extension cords powering electrical devices in the house was being used. Two other people escaped from the house about 20 miles east of Evansville.
