Dortmund beats Frankfurt 4-1 to cut Bayern's Bundesliga lead

BERLIN (AP) - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored one goal, set up another, missed a penalty and had two goals ruled out in Borussia Dortmund's 4-1 win at home over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Frankfurt, which had several players suspended, stunned home fans by taking the lead in the sixth minute. A long kick out from Lukas Hradecky found Haris Seferovic, whose cross was left by Makoto Hasebe for Alexander Meier to smash home from 22 meters (yards).

Aubameyang, who had two goals ruled out for offside in the first half, ran onto Mats Hummels' through ball and crossed for Henrikh Mkhitaryan to equalize with a tap-in in the 24th.

The visitors' task was made harder before the break when Slobodan Medojevic was harshly sent off with a second yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Gonzalo Castro. Aubameyang missed the resulting penalty.

The Gabon forward made up for this by scoring in the 57th with a simple finish to Shinji Kagawa's cross after a fine ball from Gundogan. Kagawa had come on for the injured Marco Reus in the first half.

Hummels made it 3-1 with his second goal of the season four minutes later, and Lukasz Piszczek crossed for substitute Adrian Ramos to complete the scoring in the 86th.

Dortmund cut Bayern Munich's lead to five points, while only goal difference was keeping Frankfurt out of the relegation zone.

Earlier, an injury time strike by defender Caiuby earned Augsburg its first ever win over Schalke in a 2-1 victory.

Caiuby volleyed Benedikt Hoewedes' attempted clearance into the top corner in the 92nd minute as Augsburg climbed to 13th.

"A crazy week, unbelievable. It was a matter of willpower for the team," said Augsburg sports director Stefan Reuter, whose side won 3-1 at Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday.

TV replays showed the goal should not have counted, however, due to a handball by Markus Feulner in the buildup.

"It's inexplicable to me how that wasn't whistled. It couldn't be any clearer. It's bitter to lose the game like that," Schalke forward Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting said.

South Korean midfielder Hong Jeong-ho had put the home side ahead in the 34th when his heel deflected Dominik Kohr's shot beyond the helpless Schalke 'keeper Ralph Faehrmann.

Schalke pushed hard for an equalizer after the break, with Leon Goretzka striking the crossbar in the 54th, before Sead Kolasinac deservedly equalized with his first Bundesliga goal in the 70th. The left back took Choupo-Moting's ball past a defender with his right boot and tucked it inside the post with his left.

Schalke had won six of the previous nine competitive games between the sides, with the other three games ending in draws.
