Holiday spirit in full force at West Dundee festival

The weather was more April Fool's than Seasons Greetings, but that didn't keep families from celebrating the holidays Sunday at Randall Oaks Park & Zoo's annual Winter Festival.

The event in West Dundee gave visitors a chance to meet with Santa, pet reindeer and get their faces painted without waiting in line.

The rain put a bit of a damper on some of the activities, such as hayrides and cooking s'mores over a bonfire.

For those who stayed away because of the weather, the Winter Festival resumes from 2 to 8 p.m. Dec. 18-20. On Saturday, there will be ice sculpting in addition to all the other activities.
