Former Ireland striker Keogh signs 2-year deal with Perth

PERTH, Australia (AP) - Former Ireland striker Andy Keogh has signed a two-year deal to play for the A-League's Perth Glory from 2016, but his plans to play for the team this season have been rejected by Football Federation Australia.

The club said Friday that Keogh signed a contract for 2016-17 and 2017-18. But the Glory's request to sign Keogh as a guest player this season was rejected by FFA because it said Keogh wasn't high profile enough to fit the guest player category.

The 29-year-old Keogh can only play for Glory this season if one of their imports leaves the club.

Keogh left the Glory at the end of last season following a salary cap controversy that saw the team banned from the playoffs for making payments to him through family members.
