DuPage Children's Museum preparing to open new exhibit
The DuPage Children's Museum will open its new AWEsome Air exhibit, formerly AirWorks, to members and visitors with a ribbon cutting at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the museum, 301 N. Washington St., Naperville.
AWEsome Air is part of the larger AWEsome Energy initiative, which represents more than 20 years of research and testing with a team of educators, scientists, business leaders, parents and children.
AWEsome Energy creates an immersive interactive experience in three integrated sections: air, water and electricity. AWEsome electricity opened in June 2012. AWEsome Water is slated to open in 2016.
AWEsome Energy is a $1.5 million permanent exhibit and education initiative that will cover one-quarter of the museum's 17,000-square-foot exhibit space when completed. As children explore in a hands-on environment, discovering the scientific forces that power our world, they build creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, museum officials said.
