Glenbard West tops York
Glenbard West held York to single-digit scoring in the second and fourth quarters. In an otherwise close game that - and Justin Pierce's 35 points - was the difference in the host Hilltoppers' 54-40 win.
Pierce made 12 of 15 shot attempts overall, 3 of 4 from 3-point range, and made 8 of 11 free throws to go along with 7 rebounds. Connor O'Shea added 10 points and 5 rebounds for the unbeaten Hilltoppers (7-0, 1-0) in the West Suburban Silver game. York (5-3, 1-1) was led by Jack Morrissey's 13 points.
West Chicago 60, Bartlett 47:
The host Wildcats outscored Bartlett 13-2 in the third quarter and then unloaded with a 22-point fourth quarter to improve to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division. West Chicago landed four in double figures: Quinn Ricci with 15 points, Mikey Bibbs with 14, brother Tai Bibbs with 11 and Peter Dolan with 10 points. Bartlett fell to 4-3, 0-2.
Timothy Christian 44, Guerin 31:
The host Trojans didn't allow Guerin to reach double digits in a quarter until the fourth, posting a 37-15 lead after three quarters in the Metro Suburban East contest. Timothy Christian (4-4, 2-2) got 17 points from Joey Davidson and 7 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds from Ben Lodewyk. Guerin dropped to 1-5, 1-2.
Westmont 55, Coal City 42:
In the Interstate Eight Conference, J.P. Leagogo scored 19 points and Kyle Domin added 14 for the Sentinels (2-4, 1-1).
Riverside-Brookfield 78, IC Catholic 49:
IC Catholic (4-2, 0-1) dropped its opener in the Metro Suburban West. Host Riverside-Brookfield (6-1, 2-) outscored the Knights 36-15 in the second half. Austin Reed scored 16 points and Will Lyles scored 10 for IC Catholic.
