Arlington Heights Holiday Assistance Program Helps Local Families in Need

The Village of Arlington Heights Holiday Assistance Program is underway. Join us in helping families in our community who might not otherwise experience the joy and excitement the holidays bring for most of us.

This program assists the residents of Arlington Heights who find themselves in difficult financial times due to causes beyond their control, such as loss of employment, break up of a marriage, serious medical expenses, or an expensive auto repair. Many of our clients live paycheck to paycheck, having low incomes or fixed incomes, such as those living on Social Security retirement or disability benefits.

Our residents make up several demographics such as single parents, seniors on fixed income, families working in jobs that pay low wages, families in emergency circumstances who find the holidays a stressful and challenging time of year.

You CAN make a difference!

If you commit to a specific family we count on you to follow through with new gifts for each member of that family. This program includes adults and older family members as deserving of something special for the holidays. Please include something for everyone in the family. Please have all gifts labeled with family ID#, age, size, gender.

Please call (847) 368-5791 in advance to drop off gifts. We must have ALL gifts by Dec. 18th (cash & gift cards only after this date)

Cash donations: 100% of all monetary donations will be used to help families with overwhelming bills or to purchase food certificates. All administrative costs are paid for by the Village.

Food certificates and Gas cards: You can purchase food certificates from most of the major grocery stores (Aldi, Jewel, Caputo's, Mariano's, etc.). These make nice gifts because it allows the families to purchase fresh foods they enjoy and paper goods they cannot buy with Link cards, and are much easier to handle than bags of food. Gifts cards for gas or any local stores are also greatly appreciated.

General donations: You can donate general gifts for any age or gender you wish. Only new, packaged gifts please. Have all wrapped gifts labeled with appropriate age and gender.
