St. Theresa School's Technology Department hosts 'Hour of Code'

On Wednesday, December 9th, St. Theresa Students (STS) in grades three through eight participated in the "Hour of Code." St. Theresa students have been participating in the "Hour of Code" for the past three years. The "Hour of Code" is an introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics.

Participating in the event were experts in the technology field including but not limited to software engineers from Northrop Grumman and Houghton Mifflin Harourt, representatives from Sci-Tech Hands on Museum, High Touch-High Tech, 3D Dream Makers and zSpace. Several of these demonstrators are also parents of St. Theresa School students.

"Our students are constantly learning about new advances in technology during their daily computer education class. The objective of our technology instruction is that students will develop their knowledge of various types of technology available, and its applicable uses in our daily lives. Our hope is that this event continues to enhance their excitement of the endless possibilities that can happen with technology," said Mrs. Janine Nicolas, computer education teacher.

On Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 11:00a - 2:00p, St. Theresa School will be hosting a Tech-fair at Barnes & Noble in Deer Park. The fair is to allow children to partake in hands-on activities available for purchase at the store. Proceeds from the event will support the Technology Department of St. Theresa School.
