Elgin

• Luis Gil-Carreto, 19, no address provided, Elgin, was charged Tuesday with aggravated arson, a Class X felony, and residential arson, a Class 1 Felony, police said. Gil-Carreto's bond was set at $200,000 in Kane County bond court. He is accused of starting a fire outside his ex-girlfriend's house in Elgin on Dec. 6. The ex-girlfriend told police she saw Gil-Carreto outside, and police say they obtained video from a local gas station showing Gil-Carreto filling two jugs and a glass bottle with gasoline just before the fire.

West Dundee

• Charles Deering, 27, of the 200 block of Orleans Street, Carpentersville, was charged Saturday with disobeying a traffic signal and DUI, according to a news release from West Dundee police. Officers initiated a traffic stop after Deering made a prohibited left turn at the corner of Main and Second streets, police said. Deering was released after posting $100 bail and handing over his driver's license, officials said. His next court date is Jan. 6.

Kane County

• Michelle L. Matthys, 25, of the 1000 block of Old Virginia Court, Palatine, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop at about 3:30 a.m. Dec. 1 for disobeying a stop sign at Boncosky Road and Sleepy Hollow Road near West Dundee, according to a sheriff report.

• Rigo K. Rodriguez, 37, of the 2900 block of Grand Trail, Yorkville, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery after authorities were called at 7:52 a.m. Dec. 1 to the 1100 block of Bangs Street near Aurora, according to a sheriff report. Rodriguez is accused of hitting man in the face with a caulking gun, the report said.

• A car's hood and all 4 sides were keyed sometime betweeen 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 1 while it was parked on the 7N0-99 block of Joseph Street near South Elgin, causing more than $300 damage, according to a sheriff report.

• Someone cut the cords on Christmas light decorations at a home on the 0N500 block of Saunders Drive near Geneva, causing $30 damage, according to a sheriff report. The damage was discovered at 5:39 p.m. Thursday, the report said.

• A window on a vehicle on the 200 block of Oakview Avenue in Aurora Township was broken between 6 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Monday, but nothing from inside the car was stolen, according to a sheriff report.
