Lake Zurich welcomes the holidays

The Village of Lake Zurich changed their annual tree lighting ceremony venue this year.

Friday night's event took place at Rotary Park in downtown Lake Zurich instead of Paulus Park.

"I think there are more people here tonight than all the other years at Breezewald and Paulus Park combined," Lake Zurich Mayor Tom Poynton said to a packed crowded on Main Street.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in a fire truck while onlookers enjoyed free cookies and hot chocolate.

The Lake Zurich High School Bare Voices entertained the crowd with Christmas carols, and members of the Impulse Dance Academy performed.

The ceremony even included two live reindeer to pet and take pictures with.
