Sons of the American Legion hold Santa Breakfast Dec. 12

The Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L.) are holding a special Holiday Pancake Breakfast with Santa, which is open to the public, from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the American Legion Hall 122 W. Palatine Road, in Palatine, to raise funds for Legion Family Charities.

"We are celebrating the holidays at this month's pancake breakfast," said Adam Anderson, Commander of the S.A.L. "We will be holding our breakfast upstairs in our hall. Santa will be joining us from 8 until 11:30 a.m.. Children will be able to tell Santa what they want for Christmas and get a picture with Santa for $5 or for $3 with the donation of a non-perishable food item."

The S.A.L. will be serving "all you can eat" pancakes and French toast. With the pancakes and French toast, the S.A.L. will serve bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit, orange juice, coffee and milk. This month children can special order chocolate chip pancakes. The breakfast costs $8 for adults; $4 for children ages 6-12; and children 5 and younger are free.

"We are always looking for new members for the Palatine Sons of the American Legion," said Anderson. "If you are interested in supporting those individuals who have defended our country then the S.A.L. is the organization for you. Dues are $16 per year or $69 for five years. The Sons of the American Legion was created in 1932 as an organization within the American Legion. The S.A.L. is made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents or grandparent served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in the American Legion. There are currently 300,000 members of the S.A.L. in this country and abroad.

The Palatine Chapter holds its monthly general meeting 10:30 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month, at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road.
