Harvest Christrian downs Westminster Christian

Westminster Christian held Harvest Christian senior all-stater Paulina Castro to 8 points but sophomore Alyssa Iverson came up big for the Lions (5-2, 1-0) with 22 points as Harvest, the No. 7 team in Class 1A, held on for the 62-57 Northeastern Athletic Conference girls basketball win in Elgin Thursday night.

Jen Kasper added 19 points for the Lions. Westminster's Maddie Versluys had a big night again, scoring 26 points to go along with 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. She now has 1,500 career points and is 26 points away from becoming the school's all-time leading scorer, boys or girls. Elise VanNoord added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the Warriors (2-5, 0-1) while Hannah Haecker pulled down 18 rebounds and Keeley Frens chipped in 10 points.
