Arlington Heights Ranks among Top 10 Suburbs with Most Mice
Anderson Pest Solutions, the leading pest control company in the Midwest, has released a list of the top 10 Chicago area suburbs with homeowners requesting treatment for mice this fall. The list does not include Chicago itself, which has the greatest number of service calls due to its larger population.
The list ranks suburbs by the number of Chicago area service calls performed by Anderson in response to complaints about problems with mice during the past three months.
Anderson's 2015 Top 10 Rodent Suburbs:

2. Libertyville
3. Highland Park
4. Glenview
5. Wilmette
6. Gurnee
7. Elmhurst
8. Evanston
9. Arlington Heights
10. Downers Grove
According to the company, mice become a greater nuisance in late summer and autumn as the weather turns colder and mice come indoors looking for a warm place to spend the winter. The National Pest Management Association (NPMA), claims that 24% of homeowners report mice infestations annually, with rodents invading an estimated 21 million homes in the U.S. each
winter.
Mice thrive in areas where there are plenty of food resources to feed on, including areas near forest preserves and around homes with heavy landscaping. In addition, larger homes have more places for mice to enter, hide and harbour.
"Mice are among the most significant and destructive pests in the world," said Tom Dobrinska, Staff Entomologist at Anderson Pest Solutions. "They contaminate our food, cause structural damage, and negatively impact our general health. If they aren't controlled by effective pest control, rodents can spread diseases like Salmonella and Hantavirus when they contaminate food, and bring fleas, ticks and lice indoors. Rodents can also cause serious structural damage by chewing through wood and electrical wiring."
Dobrinska went on to state, "If you are experiencing a mouse issue, you really should call an environmentally responsible professional who can effectively eliminate the infestation while preventing any exposure risks with children and pets. We have a number of proven methods for catching and removing existing invaders and we can also find the point of entry into the home and recommend steps to prevent future problems."
