Glenbard South Madrigal Dinner to end a tradition

After almost 40 years of tradition, Glenbard South High School is preparing to celebrate its final Madrigal Dinner before debuting a new Renaissance music event next year.

The Madrigal Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Abbington Banquets, Route 53 and Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn.

Participants will experience authentic 15th century costumes and Renaissance holiday music. The dinner will include soup, chicken, dessert and beverage. While guests are dining, they'll be entertained by elite carolers, string orchestra, herald trumpets, brass choir and court jesters who involve the crowd in their follies.

Next year, Glenbard South will launch a new tradition to reinvent the concept of traditional caroling. The Renaissance singers still will perform popular Christmas carols and bring the joy of the season to the community through a number of performances.

The Madrigal Singers, under the direction of Stephanie Skizas, include Muhammad Ahmad, Tristan Arlos, Stephen Bean, Marina D'Agostino, Kelsey Gipson, Alison Groppi, Julianna Gutierrez, Stephanie Maurer, Kenny Mendoza, Maggie Micklo, Patrick Norton, Michelle O'Dowd, Melissa Padera, Gabi Pierotti, Ian Rose, Nicholas Sabri, Alex Sellers, Tyler Shaw, Lexi Skordilis and Michael Thompson.

Tickets to the dinner show are $32. Reserve your seat by calling (630) 469-6500 or (630) 942-6612.
