Hersey carolers brighten Prospect Heights library

The John Hersey High School Charles Dickens Carolers sang "Here We Come A-Caroling" as they entered the room at the Prospect Heights Public Library on Sunday dressed in colorful Victorian-era capes, bonnets, and tall hats.

Under the direction of Sara Michael, 22 members of the a cappella choral group performed a variety of traditional holiday songs and madrigal music, including "Joy to the World," "Wassail" and "Let It Snow."

"It's always a sold-out house, and it's a great way to start the season," said Denise Lemanski, community service coordinator at the library. "They are so professional. They are well trained and put on a great performance here and throughout the community for the holiday season."

The venue was overflowing with more than 100 people who came to listen to the singers.

"I'm glad we get to come out here and spread Christmas cheer for everyone. It's so fun to do," said Hersey senior and caroler Michael Haussmannn.
