Ela Township program is hiring after-school assistant

Ela Township is hiring an after-school program assistant to help students with homework, supervise activities for children enrolled in Thrive After Three and assist in providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment for young program participants.

The scope of responsibilities for the position includes:

• Interaction with and supervision of children in grades K-5 through games, crafts, homework help and other group activities.

• Application of basic youth development principles in working with youth through communication, relationship development and respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.

• Awareness and implementation of safety guidelines.

• Assisting the youth director with daily cleanup, setting up supplies, leaving program area neat and clean.

• Following and upholding all security rules and procedures.

• Working positively with children, volunteers and the youth director.

• Assisting in the maintenance of the highest standards of health and safety, keeping the health and welfare of every child at all times and encouraging safety and healthy choices while children are at the program.

Requirements for the position include:

• Prior experience working with children.

• Applicants must be creative, patient, understanding and flexible to adapt to changing situations.

• Ability to work with a diverse age group and skill level of staff and youth.

• Applicants must possess a positive attitude and act as a role model for children.

• CPR/AED and First Aid Certified preferred.

• Ability to work weekdays from 2-5 p.m.

Employment is subject to a background check. Compensation will be based on experience, ranging from $10 to $15 per hour.
