Highland Park brothers debut new PBS Kids series, 'Nature Cat'

A new PBS Kids series created by two brothers from Highland Park, David and Adam Rudman, debuts Wednesday on the children's network.

“Nature Cat” is an animated action-adventure show about a house cat who likes to go outside and enjoy nature. The goal is to encourage kids and their families to spend more times outdoors, be active, and make their own adventures.

Nature Cat is voiced by “Saturday Night Live” star Taran Killam. Other famous character voices are Squeaks the mouse (Kate McKinnon), Hal the dog (Bobby Moynihan) and Daisy the rabbit (Kate Minucci).

It's the latest venture in the Rudman brothers' impressive career in children's entertainment. Adam Rudman is a six-time Emmy Award-winning writer who has worked on shows including “Tom & Jerry,” “Scooby Doo” and “Sesame Street.”

David Rudman has a 25-year career with PBS Kids, having played Cookie Monster and Baby Bear on “Sesame Street,” for which he was nominated four times for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series. He's also been on many TV shows and movies, including, “The Colbert Report,” “The Muppets,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “Jack's Big Music Show” on the Nick Jr. network.

“Nature Cat” will air at multiple times Wednesday and Thursday on WTTW. For a list of times, visit http://schedule.wttw.com/series/23324/Nature-Cat/
