Village considering memorial to McHenry County deputy

HOLIDAY HILLS, Ill. (AP) - A northern Illinois village may erect a memorial to a sheriff's deputy who died nearly a year after he was shot while responding to a domestic violence call.

The Northwest Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1T8rttA ) the Holiday Hills Village Board is discussing putting the memorial to McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Dwight Maness in a revamped park.

The 47-year-old Maness and partner Khalia Satkiewicz were shot in October 2014 while conducting a well-being check at a home in Holiday Hills.

An autopsy determined Maness died during a September rehabilitation session from a blood clot in his lungs.

Holiday Hills Police Chief Tony Colatorti says he wanted to do something to show the community's appreciation to Maness.

The village board plans to discuss the memorial at its Dec. 7 meeting.
