Statewide honor for Gurnee parks employee

Sabrina Hinkens, youth program supervisor for the Gurnee Park District, has been named the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association's Recreation Section Marcy Adams Spirit Award recipient for 2015.

The award was established in 2001 to honor the life of Adams, an enthusiastic parks and recreation professional, who died from leukemia in August 2000. It is presented to an association member who exemplifies the qualities demonstrated by Adams.

For the past nine years, Hinkens has been an active member of the IPRA Recreation Section, and for the past two years she has served as the School-Aged/Day Camp Committee chairwoman.
