Eastern Kentucky fires coach Dean Hood after 8 seasons
RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Eastern Kentucky has fired coach Dean Hood and says it will immediately begin a national search for his replacement.
The Colonels finished 6-5 overall, 5-3 and in fourth place in the Ohio Valley Conference this season under Hood, who was 55-38 in eight years with the program. He coached EKU to three Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances including 2014, when it lost 36-16 to Indiana State in the opener.
EKU athletic director Steve Lochmueller thanked Hood for his service Monday in a release that added, "these decisions are never taken lightly. After a careful review of our football program, I feel a change in leadership is needed."
