New dean of science and health careers at Oakton
Ruth Williams was appointed this week as Oakton Community College's dean of the science and health careers division, a position that includes oversight of 15 departments and programs at the Des Plaines-based school.
Williams, currently chair of Oakton's biology department, has been on the faculty there since 2002. She previously worked at Moraine Park Technical College and Barat College.
She begins her new role Jan. 1, and will earn a base salary of $110,000 a year.
The news comes as another administrator, Bob Nowak, the school's vice president for business and finance since 2012, announced Tuesday was his last day. Officials expect a replacement by next summer.
