Lafayette man found guilty of raping ex-girlfriend
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A 28-year-old Lafayette man has been found guilty of breaking into a home and raping his ex-girlfriend.
Latroy Maxwell was indicted in May on eight charges, including rape, sexual and domestic battery, criminal confinement, strangulation and invasion of privacy. WLFI-TV (http://bit.ly/1HZh1DG ) reports that he was convicted Wednesday and faces up to 42 years in prison.
Prosecutors said Maxwell forced his way into his ex-girlfriend's home, pinned her onto a bed, choked her until she lost consciousness and then raped her in April.
The woman reported the assault after Maxwell left. He was arrested less than two hours later when police responded to a report of a drunken man.
Maxwell is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 18.
