DePauw teacher named Indiana professor of the year

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (AP) - A DePauw University science professor has been named Indiana's professor of the year.

Daniel G. Gurnon is one of a number of teachers from across the nation to receive national awards Thursday from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

Gurnon is an associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry whose research focuses on visualizing the submicroscopic world. He serves as director of Science Research Fellows, an honors program for students interested in studying science and getting significant hands-on research experience.

DePauw vice president for academic affairs Anne F. Harris says Gurnon inspires students in the classroom and the laboratory.
