15-year-old boy shot in leg while hunting in Jay County
PORTLAND, Ind. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a 15-year-old boy was shot and injured by a 16-year-old boy while they were hunting together in Jay County.
The hunting accident in Portland was reported to the Jay County's Sheriff's Department at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The 15-year-old boy was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren't considered to be life-threatening.
The sheriff's department says the 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg when the 16-year-old boy attempted to shoot a running deer.
Both boys were wearing hunter orange and are licensed hunters.
