WHAT'S AT STAKE
The Cardinal can clinch the Pac-12 North title with a win. The Golden Bears are seeking their first Big Game win since 2009 and can improve their bowl position after becoming eligible last week.
KEY MATCHUP
Stanford D vs. Cal QB Jared Goff. The Cardinal will be without a key player in injured CB Ronnie Harris, making the task of dealing with Goff and the high-powered Cal offense even tougher. Goff threw six TD passes last week as the Bears gained a school-record 760 yards in the 54-24 win over Oregon State.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
California: RB Tre Watson. With Daniel Lasco slowed by injuries this season, Watson had a breakout game last week when he rushed for 110 yards and added 54 yards receiving and a touchdown. That nearly equaled his output from scrimmage the first nine games when his biggest running day was for just 37 yards.
Stanford: DL Brennan Scarlett. After spending his first four years at Cal, Scarlettt transferred to Stanford this offseason and will play in his first Big Game after being plagued by injuries. Scarlett had 2 1/2 sacks against Oregon last week. Scarlett is the first player since Dale Rubin in the 1960s to play for both rivals.
