Cologne scraps plans for carnival outfit in Bundesliga
COLOGNE, Germany (AP) - Bundesliga club Cologne has scrapped plans to play its next match in a specially-designed carnival outfit out of respect for the victims of the Paris attacks.
Cologne plays Mainz in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Both cities are among the centers of the carnival season in Germany.
The club will use its normal home kit, with a black armband.
Cologne says a carnival kit would be inappropriate "in remembrance of victims, which will play a role at all Bundesliga stadiums," with all players wearing black armbands.
The club's managing director Alexander Wehrle says "our culture, so hated by the perpetrators of Paris and other terrorist attacks, includes enjoying life, whether through sport, music or carnival."
