No. 21 George Washington women top Grambling in opener 85-58

WASHINGTON (AP) - Caira Washington scored 20 of her 23 points in the first half and No. 21 George Washington rolled to an 85-58 season-opening win over Grambling State on Saturday.

Shannon Cranshaw added 15 points and Kelli Prange 12 for the Colonials, who led 49-26 at halftime. Cranshaw hit all five of her 3-pointers and the team finished 10 of 20. Jonquel Jones had 10 rebounds as George Washington dominated the boards 54-29.

Yosha Watson led Grambling with 21 points.

Washington made two layups as the Colonials scored the first nine points and had 14 points in the first quarter when George Washington went up by a dozen. She also had the last two baskets of the half as the lead expanded to 49-26.

Two of Cranshaw's 3s came in an 8-0 burst that pushed the margin to 31 early in the third quarter.
