Monmouth (NJ) holds off Presbyterian 21-16

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) - Cody Williams threw for two touchdowns to lead Monmouth (NJ) to a 21-16 win over Presbyterian on Saturday.

Williams connected with Ugo Ezemma for a 5-yard score in the second quarter and Reggie White Jr., from the 11 late in the third for what proved to be the game winner.

Darren Ambush also had a 13-yard touchdown run in the third quarter as the Hawks (4-6, 2-3 Big South) overcame a 10-7 halftime deficit.

Ben Cheek, who had a 1-yard TD run late in the second quarter, hit Deonte' Davis for an 18-yard score with 5:20 to play but the Blue Hose (1-9, 0-5) failed on the 2-point conversion. They had one last possession but went the wrong way with two sacks for 22 yards.

Monmouth safety Mike Basile, who leads the league in tackles, added 12 more to give him 109 for the season.
