Mays with 35-yard field goal, Cornell beats Columbia 3-0

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) - Zach Mays kicked a 35-yard field goal in the first quarter and Cornell beat Columbia 3-0 on Saturday, snapping a nine-game losing skid dating back to last season.

Luke Hagy ran for 60 yards on 24 carries, and Sean Scullen and Nick Gesualdi had interceptions for Cornell (1-8, 1-5 Ivy League). Cameron Molina ran for a career-high 180 yards to lead Columbia (2-7, 1-5).

Mays' field goal capped a 13-play, 73-yard drive on the opening series for the Big Red. In the third quarter, Scullen intercepted a Skyler Mornhinweg pass and returned it 41 yards. On the ensuing series, Dominic Perkovic blocked Mays' 38-yard field goal attempt.

Gesualdi intercepted an Anders Hill pass in the third quarter. On the Lions final drive, Molina carried eight times for 71 yards, including a 29-yard run, but the drive stalled when Cameron Nizialek missed a 44-yard field goal with five minutes left.
