State gun dealers licensing not needed
Regarding the letter of Nov. 3 concerning Illinois' attempt to license firearms dealers, Mrs. Spagnolo has my complete sympathy over the loss of her husband.
However, the federal government requires all firearms dealers (and manufacturers) to have a Federal Firearms License to legally do business as a dealer and/or manufacturer. Illinois' only apparent reason for licensing firearms dealers is the revenue that would be generated.
This would be a good idea only if the monies were irrevocably dedicated to increasing the budgets of law enforcement agencies and the (totally inadequate) state mental health system.
