Elgin girl wins Tiny Miss East Illinois State Title

Karli Villagomez, 3-year-old daughter of Elgin residents Agustin and Cassandra Villagomez, will represent the state of Illinois as Baby Miss East Illinois in the Baby Miss America National Pageant in Houston, Texas, during Thanksgiving week. Karli took home the Baby Miss East Illinois State title at the State Pageant held at the Chicago O'Hare Hyatt in August, winning awards for Best Party Dress and Best Personality.

Baby Miss America Pageant National Director Sammie Savoie said, "the Baby Miss America Pageant is not an open competition, a child must be chosen to participate on the local, state or regional level through the candidate-at-large system." Karli was chosen as a candidate-at-large winner from over 900 children across the state of Illinois to participate in the "Search for America's Most Beautiful Babies."

The Baby Miss America Pageant, open to all children ranging in ages of 3 months to 6 years, chooses its contestants through the candidate-at-large system. The pageant is a 100-percent Natural Competition. Rules and regulations include no makeup, no hair pieces, no fake teeth, no spray tanning, and absolutely no go-go juice of any kind. Unlike any other children's pageant, there is no modeling or talent involved.

The Baby Miss America Pageant is dedicated to the purpose of inspiring children with the highest ideals of character, conduct and confidence, assisting in the development of a child's poise and self-esteem and self-confidence, while developing a positive attitude to reach their fullest potential.

Baby Miss America is proud to support "The Water Project" charity. Over 4,000 children die every day due to inability to have access to clean water. Sammie Savoie, director of Baby Miss America, says "The Baby Miss America Pageant believes we can make a difference with 'children helping children'."
