American investors buy 25 percent of EPL club Bournemouth

BOURNEMOUTH, England (AP) - Bournemouth says American investors have bought a quarter of the Premier League club.

Chicago-based PEAK6 Investments co-founder Matt Hulsizer and colleague Jay Coppoletta will be joining the Bournemouth board of directors.

Russian businessman Maxim Demin will remain the majority owner of Bournemouth, which is based on the south coast of England and is 12 games into its first season playing in the top division.

Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn says the investment will strengthen the club's "ability to compete with the very best, and provide a platform to establish itself as a long-term Premier League club."

With a stadium capacity of less than 12,000, Bournemouth has made a remarkable rise through the professional ranks after nearly going out of business and just avoiding relegation from the fourth division six years ago.
