Vardy scores again as Leicester beats Watford 2-1 in EPL

LEICESTER, England (AP) - Jamie Vardy extended his scoring streak to nine straight Premier League games to help Leicester beat Watford 2-1 Saturday and maintain its grip on third place.

Vardy slotted in a penalty in the 65th minute to make it 2-0 and move within one game of Ruud van Nistelrooy's record streak of scoring in 10 straight Premier League games.

N'Golo Kante had put Leicester ahead in the 53rd minute after a mistake by goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, who let a low shot slip between his hands.

Troy Deeney pulled back a goal from the spot in the 76th for Watford.

Leicester is now level on 25 points with leader Manchester City and second-place Arsenal, who both play Sunday. Newcomer Watford is in midtable with 16 points.
