Takeaways from Friday night football

1. Districts collide:

No. 6 seed Naperville Central, which defeated No. 22 Warren 49-28 on Friday in Class 8A, has a 6-5 all-time record against 30th-seeded quarterfinal foe Waubonsie Valley, including Redhawks playoff wins in 1993 and 2014.

2. Duchon defense:

Glenbard West's 7-0 Class 7A victory over Mt. Carmel marked the first time the Caravan has been shut out since 2003. That's when Glenbard South blanked Mt. Carmel 33-0 in the opening round of the playoffs.

3. Broncos in quarters:

Unbeaten Montini, the No. 1 seed in its Class 6A bracket, enters the quarterfinals with wins in its last six third-round games. The Broncos' last quarterfinal loss came in 2008 to eventual 5A champion St. Francis.
