Power of PACs key to longevity in Congress

Re: Your recent letter from Mark Garrity regarding how Peter Roskam epitomizes the situation in Congress. It would be wonderful if we could start again, after firing every one of our so-called representatives.

When I was likely to be running against Roskam, I researched every one of the bills in which he has been associated, either by proposing them or being a supporting congressman. The pile of copies was around three inches high, so it was an enormous amount of bills.

I read through all of them. There was not one single bill of any substance, and I wonder why Mr. Roskam manages to get elected again and again.

Perhaps it is the huge amount of money he raises and, of course, that is the crowning glory for a politician.

This shows the power of the PACS which I say is wrong.
