Wheeling donating $5,000 raffle prize to five local charities
Wheeling Village President Dean Argiris announced this week that the village will donate $5,000 it won in a Wheeling Rotary Club raffle to area organizations that help women and children.
The village will donate $1,500 each to the Korean Cultural Center and the Wheeling Family Learning Center. The Dollars for Scholars program, which helps area students pay for college, will receive $1,000, and $500 each will go to the Wheeling Food Pantry and the Wheeling Fire Department's Operation Warm, which provides winter coats for needy children.
"We were fortunate enough to win that and the big winners are those five organizations that we're going to share it with," Argiris said.
